Today’s blog post is about kitchen gadgets, that make your life easier.

In this blog, we openly share our own experiences and observations. When we recommend a product, it is because we have been using it successfully for a period of time, usually way past any warranty. 

We believe that kitchen appliances and tools should be an investment that pays off over time. There are tons of gadgets that will hardly live past their warranty time, and that is actually a shame. Although usually inexpensive at the time of purchase, their short-lived lifespan is adding hassles to our lives - and also is quite hard on the planet.

With the shier amount of choices for each and every utensil or machinery, word of the mouth from more experienced home-cooks is going to make your life a lot less stressful. 

Today, our focus is on a staple piece of electric equipment, that makes our life so much easier, that we would not want to be without it, ever: Our 20 dollars electric can opener by Hamilton Beach. It will make the hassle of opening cans manualy a chore from the past!

We have purchased it, for the first time, in the summer of 2018, at Walmart. Due to circumstances, we have been cooking quite a lot of canned corn, peas, beans, and all sorts of tomato cans. Our can opener is subjected to opening cans for us, easily 200 times a year, any year. 

We have bought the identical machine a second time in the fall of 2024. Mind you, the old can opener is still in good working condition. The motor still works, and the cutting parts are still sharp. The only reason we have changed out the machine is that after more than 6 years of service, the glue holding the magnet that sticks to the can lid during the opening process started coming undone. 

We have been using the top rack of the dishwasher to clean that dishwasher-safe part basically every day, that we used it. After more than 6 years, though, that portion of that cutting head has come somewhat lose, and that has been less convenient in our day-to-day use.

We shamelessly recommend this inexpensive gadget not only for those of you, who like us may struggle with joint pains, arthritis, and other such ailments, but to anyone who has a kitchen, and at least sometimes uses canned goods in their diets. Relatives of ours had gone through 2, or even 3 electric openers and countless manual ones during that same period of time.
